How Prayer Works - 8/11/05

Understanding the Energy of Prayer

Prayer DOES work, you know.

The problem is that we are obsessed in this culture with the FORM that prayer should take. We get all caught up in the ego battle of "My God is better than your God!" and "Only my way of honoring a Higher Power is correct, and therefore you are demon spawn!"

Prayer can occur in the simplest of moments. Hugging a kitty, kissing a baby, stroking your partner's cheek, saying "Hi" to a beautiful tree -- all of these acts of heartfelt connection transport us into the prayer state.

Prayer Is Not What You Say Or Do But the Energy That You Bring To That Experience

Just about everything and anything you can think of can be done in a prayerful way. Even dying can become a prayer. If you've ever known someone who died consciously, at peace, with love in their heart, it's one of the most amazing things to witness. Many people approach their time of death with a full awareness that their spirit is merging with the world of the sacred, reuniting with God or a Higher Power, and this dimensional transition is embraced as a miracle.

Giving birth can happen as a prayer. That's what midwives who encourage natural childbirth are awakening in the mothers they coach. Every woman has the capacity to enter into the sacred stream even in the midst of the terrible pain her body experiences with childbirth. Turning this moment when a baby first enters the world into a living prayer is one of the greatest gifts a mom can give to her little one, since her baby is suddenly being thrown into an unfamiliar environment and can use an energy boost of unconditional love. The mother has an opportunity to anchor the newborn's soul in a vibration of peace and joy which will carry forward throughout his or her life.

Sex As a Prayer - An Explanation of Tantric Energy

It would be nice if humanity could learn to experience sex as a prayer, too. Instead, most people approach sex as an act of consumption, of sucking up someone's energy, just like a vampire. They might as well be eating food or feasting on prey, because they regard their partner as something to be absorbed and tossed aside later, like yesterday's Cheetos.

Sex is meant to be a sacred act of merging, one of the most intimate acts of spiritual sharing you could ever experience with another spirit while you are both in physical form. Pregnancy is the other opportunity people have to experience this; unfortunately, men miss out on that one.

To open your heart chakra and your crown chakra while you make love, to hold your partner UP and boost them with your highest energies -- that is the way things are supposed to go. That's what the human energy system was always designed to do. Our nervous systems are incredible instruments. We have the capacity to become "tuning forks" for a wide array of vibrations, bringing that energy through at the cellular level and transmitting that frequency outwards to all of creation. We project energy through our DNA, which acts as a kind of Cosmic Internet.(If you don't believe me, check out the cutting edge research of German researchers Grazyna Fosar and Franz Bludorf.

But we're divine energy beings who are experiencing devastating spiritual amnesia. And this is, unfortunately, a society of takers and users who mostly walk around blind to the energy dynamics happening in human relationships.

This needs to change.

The Worlds of Science and Mysticism Are Merging

It's time for us all to stop defining energy wisdom as "mysticism" or "the supernatural" or "magic" or "religion." Energy simply is and science has proven this, although science hasn't yet mapped out every single type of energy that exists. It's getting closer to doing this, though. There have been successful teleportation experiments and all manner of wild and amazing stuff going on in the last year alone. The gradual accumulation of all of this research data is building a bridge between the worlds of mysticism and third dimensional consciousness, bringing those two polarized forms of understanding energy closer together. Eventually, they will merge and become one.

They were always meant to be together. Physics and cutting edge scientific and technological discoveries are verifying, day by day, the basic precepts that mystics have been teaching for millennia.

Just as there are light frequencies which we know exist, only we can't see them with our physical eyes, so are there energies surrounding us in our daily lives that we don't automatically take in with our conscious minds. And just as human ears tune out certain sound frequencies (while our doggy companions hear them easily,) so do our inner, psychic ears miss out on much of the celestial symphony accompanying every moment.

But we CAN learn to be more attuned to these cosmic rhythms.

It takes an act of courage to develop your energy sensitivity because you will begin to sense things that other people don't understand, and some of these people will want to burn you at the stake if you speak up about them. However, you're not responsible for their ignorance and hatred. Don't take on that burden for them. That's something they'll have to sort out for themselves.

I believe it's time for energy aware people to stop skulking about in the shadows, living in fear about sharing what they perceive, and start stepping into the power of their perceptions. For every one of us who speaks up, there are millions who are too shy to speak. And we become their voice, their heroes, their spiritual warrior allies.

Let's band together and start building a collective vocabulary for the science of energy, for the promotion of energy wisdom, and for a return to energy awareness. And let's support each others' perceptions, observations, and experiences, because they are all valid and important.

I'm up for it. How about you?
