Working with Crystals and Bonnie Moss on Self-Protection

A lot of people have been responding to my article about energy vampires. Those of you who are interested in this subject probably realize that the key is to learn how to protect yourself psychically, learning how to keep your own energy field clear and grounded. It's also helpful to learn how to "detox" when you've been drained by an energy vampire type.

Bonnie Moss is an intuitive and healer who has written a simple essay on self-protection which explores this idea a little further. The only part I disagree with is where she talks about how you can "program" a crystal to serve as a healing tool. She's right in the sense that you CAN program a crystal. But, for the devic energies associated with that crystal, it's a bit like you coming in and laying down martial law and DEMANDING that the crystal help you.

How to Connect with a Crystal

I much prefer to lovingly connect with the devic energies of the crystal or stone first and ask if she/he/it would be willing or able to help me. I'll state my intent, like, "I'd like to clear this room out of any unwanted, lower vibrational, etheric energies. Can you help me with this? Does this feel like a task you'd enjoy?" That sort of thing. Almost always, the crystals will say "Yes," because the devic energies work very hard at helping healer types. We're all part of a larger "mission" to try to ground healing forces onto the planet. So the devas love to help.

When a crystal is hesitant to help, it usually means that the crystal itself needs some healing. Many crystals are sold in New Age stores which can have very mixed vibrations, depending on the owner, the customers, etc. And just the fact that crystals have traveled thousands of miles before they end up on our doorstep means that they often need a period to clear out and to heal from their journey. I mean, if you'd just traveled from South Africa to California, wouldn't you need to take some time to catch your breath?

Where Has That Crystal Been, and What Has It Been Up To?

Another factor to consider: You never know where a crystal has been or who was using it before. This is why when you get a crystal, you should attune yourself to it and do some discerning. Some crystals were brutalized in ancient Atlantis and were forced to do many evil things. You can tell when a crystal has been warped in this way, because its energies will feel denser, somewhat muddy, and you will sense that the crystal isn't happy. Sometimes, entities will have been planted in the crystal, lower elemental or even demonic or discarnate forms. So if you tune in to a crystal, sometimes these entities will try to talk to you, and you have to stand strong in your faith and your spiritual power to exorcise these lower vibrations and to send them off to the Light.

I find that giving the crystal a strong blast of electric violet energy, directed out from my palms, does the trick. Electric violet is a deep violet color with lots of divine gold sparkling around within the color. It's one of the most powerful color vibrations for all forms of exorcism, whether you want to clear out negative emotions or negative entities. The bad guys can't stand the stuff!

When I have received a crystal that is damaged in this way, I will clear it out and usually put it outdoors for several months to give it a chance to heal. Sometimes I'll keep it inside and soak it in water and sea salt, which always acts as a healing balm for the crystal. And sometimes I will be guided to return the crystal back to nature in some remote place. I always try to respect the wishes of the deva inside the crystal.

Devas Are Good Guys

By the way, a deva is NOT a demon. Think of a deva as the guardian angel, an energy being, who watches over a crystal or stone. Just as we humans have a guardian angel who watches over us, so do crystals have devas. So when you connect with the deva, you are tuning into the "Higher Self" of that crystal, harmonizing yourself with its spiritual energy. This is the only way to work, in my opinion. Ordering a crystal around like a dumb object is inappropriate, because crystals have consciousness. (Everything has consciousness, but that's another story!)

So when you get a crystal, it's important to build a relationship with it. Just as you would never expect a complete stranger to drop everything and suddenly help you, so is it unrealistic to expect a crystal you've never meditated with to suddenly assist you with your work.

As we learn to express greater respect, friendship, and love for all forms of creation, we'll find ourselves harmonizing more with the devas, the mineral kingdom, the plant kingdom, and the animal kingdom. But it does take sincere effort! It doesn't always happen overnight.

Now, back to Bonnie's article, which is very nice. Have a peek at it here:
