Upcoming Pay per View Séance Contacting John Lennon

What are your plans for April 24th? Because if you’re not busy, you could always pay $9.95 to watch a séance. A psychic will attempt to contact the spirit of John Lennon. It will be broadcast by the US In Demand digital cable channel.

My own response to the idea? Ugh.

Yoko Ono, Lennon’s widow, has already denounced the idea as tasteless and tacky. She’s right about that.

These producers staged a similar event in 2003, attempting to get in touch with the late Princess Diana.

Séances work, I’ve conducted them myself many years ago. But they’re not something to be done for random entertainment. If there is important communication involved between loved ones, that’s one thing. Sometimes there needs to be some healing contact between surviving family members and the deceased, and connecting with the departed in a loving way can serve a higher purpose. But casually dialing up a dead celebrity for financial gain – well, that’s another thing.

Death Is an Illusion

You see, the interesting thing about death is that IT ISN’T REAL. There is no death. There’s only a transition from one energy state to another. People are often surprised once they reach the “other side” to discover that they have the same “body.” Only it’s more refined because it’s pure energy, and it’s more youthful. Dead people “look” about 29 years old in their spirit bodies.

Folks who have crossed over are also pretty shocked to find out that they still have the same emotions, drives, interests, and personality.

We are who we are. Period. Taking that final trip out of a body we’ve been wearing for a few years doesn’t change who we are. If anything, the body and its density can BLOCK the natural energy of a spirit, especially if the body has become ill. Devoid of a body, a person can get back to the grand experience of being a miraculous energy being. Because that’s our true essence.

Astral Travel During Sleep

Our essence is pure energy. Deep down, we all know this. That’s why sleep is so attractive. During sleep our astral shell partially detaches from the physical body and runs about having adventures. Once you learn how to lucid dream, you can create entire worlds in your dreams. You can have a chat with Elvis, visit Mars, take a trip to the past or check out the probable future. Our energy bodies are unlimited. It is SO fun flying around learning about the mysteries of the Universe.

That’s what psychics are doing when they do psychic work. They are using their energy body to access these larger realms that exist beyond the five senses and tap into the world of the Infinite. We all have this ability. It’s as natural to us as breathing – more natural, actually. Because it’s how we are when we’re not in a body. And since we occupy bodies for a relatively short period, but the soul is eternal, we can easily reclaim these abilities if we learn things like meditation, artistic creativity, and prayer. Those techniques allow us to tap into the energy memory of the soul. That begins the process of remembering and jumpstarts our journey back “home.”

Definition of the Word Psychic

The word “psychic” actually means “of the soul” or “pertaining to the soul.” So to be using your psychic gifts just means that you are accessing your innate talents, your natural connection to the world of energy.

If you’re good at using your psychic abilities, it doesn’t mean you’re special. It doesn’t mean you should become a famous prophet. Sometimes, it’s best to do nothing at all. Don’t expose that part of yourself to the unenlightened thoughtforms, judgments, and prejudices of other people. All of that heavy energy coming at you from other people can be a real bummer and can intimidate you out of pursuing what is natural to your soul.

Just express that aspect of yourself in your own way, on your time, in a way that feels right for you.

I can speak from experience that the path of being a public psychic is weird. I spent many years allowing myself to be exploited by (usually) well-meaning people. Imagine every time you meet a stranger having them demand a reading on the spot, or proceeding to “test” you in a hostile way within minutes of meeting you.

That was my life for about 13 years until I finally made the shift into earning my living as a writer and realized I didn’t have to try to “prove” anything to anyone anymore. And boy, did it feel good just to have a normal life again! I couldn’t believe how dysfunctional people had been when they discovered I worked as a psychic. Either they instantly wanted to be my friend and have me do free readings for them, soliciting my phone number so they could call me at 2 in the morning, draining me dry of energy, or they demonized me, thought I was crazy or evil. I mean, really.

So, if you find that your psychic abilities are beginning to manifest, I’d say keep them to yourself. Study on your own. Allow the joy and the miracle of tapping into your spiritual self to expand gradually, in its own perfect way, without getting into dialogue with other people about it. Because, unfortunately, today’s world is not equipped to handle psychic people. It likes to crush them and exploit them and burn them out.

My Chat with John Lennon

Anyway, this John Lennon séance is unfortunate. For the cable show I understand they are having a New York psychic visit many spots that were important to Lennon, including the Dakota building in New York where he was shot in 1980. That was 25 years ago. Man, how time flies!

I visited that spot and did some clearing work on John’s behalf many years ago. There was a still a part of his astral shell stuck there, in severe distress, reliving the events of his death over and over again. He seemed happy to see the angels as I prayed over him, and I sensed that that last piece of him made a successful transition to the Light. This happened in the mid-90's.

But you know what? It never crossed my mind to call the press and broadcast the event. Geesh.

Spiritual healing and intervention for ghosts or trapped spirits is very intimate work. I’ve been on TV two times doing work as a ghostbuster, and I won’t do it again. I gave the producers tons of background material as I tuned into the complex dynamics of the different spirits who were stuck in this old house in northern New Jersey. There were touching, human stories involved. I wanted to honor the spirits of the dead and provide some context for my work that they were filming. But they were just interested in measuring “hot spots.” They didn’t even do things logically. I went around various rooms and described the energy imprint of the house, the past occupants, etc, having no prior knowledge about it. And then afterwards I talked with the home owners and went through old photographs which verified a lot of what I’d seen.

I’d seen specific things like how there used to be a second floor balcony that stretched along the front of the house, and this one woman who died in childbirth and was still hanging out as a ghost used to walk out on to that balcony to get cool on warm summer nights when she was pregnant. And the owners showed me photographs of the very balcony I described, which had been removed many years previously.

Little details like that never made it in to the final show. And they did a long interview with me after I cleared the spirits out of the house, and this detailed explanation of how you can help a ghost, how a person can bring healing to trapped spirits, never made it on the air. Very sad.

I believe in providing context and showing people how spiritual energies operate, the reasons WHY something is as it is. TV is a prostitute’s medium – all “Wham, bam, thank you M’aam, now let’s go to commercial!”

So as far as this pay per view séance goes, the producers will probably make a lot of money. They pocketed some 500,000 pounds for the Princess Diana séance.

But I hope you’re not going to watch.

There are better ways to honor John Lennon’s incredible talent and creative spirit. Put on your favorite Lennon album, light a candle, and say a prayer of gratitude for all the great vibes and wonderful music he helped to bring on the planet. He was one of the spiritual warriors of the 60’s who was on a mission to open up vortices of light on the planet, and his music helped transform a lot of the heavy energies that were hanging about in the first half of the 20 th century.

Thanks to all the 60’s pioneers who opened up the floodgates of lighter energy for us all. We’re still on a path of transformation, society-wise, but you brave healers succeeded in wedging that doorway of possibility open.

For that, we are all grateful.
