Your Birthday is a Window of Positive Energy
You might not realize it, but your birthday is a unique doorway of powerful spiritual energy. It's your spiritual New Year, a time to clear out the baggage of the past and focus on creating a bright future.
This energy gets kicked up when the sun returns to the sign it was in at your birth. I'm a Virgo, and my birthday is today. This means the sun was in the sign of Virgo when I was born. But I actually began feeling a nice rush of positive energy before my birthday, on August 23rd when the sun moved into Virgo.
When the sun returns to the sign it was in at your birth, this is called your solar return. The sign remains in a given sign for four weeks. This means that for the four weeks around your birthday, you have a ton of positive energy flooding your system. The sun's return to the sign it was in at your birth creates a wonderful vortex, making it easier for you to access creative inspiration, healing energies, and spiritual wisdom.
I wish more people knew about this, so they'd understand the unique power of birthdays! That's why I decided to write about this today.
I think many folks understand that there is something powerful about the birthday itself. And they probably also understand that the exact TIME of their birth is also very powerful. For instance, I was born at 4:07 in the morning, and last night I had troubles getting to sleep, I was feeling such a rush of great energy. I used that time to set intentions and to focus on what I want to shape and create for myself over the next twelve months. And I felt a ton of spiritual energy coming in, giving me a wonderful boost.
So the actual day and the exact hour or time of your birth are great times for meditation and for setting intentions. But there is also a power period going on for the four weeks surrounding your birthday, going from the time the sun moves into the sign it was in at your birth (in my case, Virgo) until the time it moves on to the next sign.
From August 23rd through September 23rd the sun is in Virgo, which makes this a "power time" for all people born under the sign of Virgo. Make use of it, folks! Don't simply coast along, caught up in all of your usual worries and concerns. This is a unique period when you can step OUT of the box and access powerful energy that can boost you and improve your circumstances, if you set positive intentions during this period.
Power Times for Librans
On September 23rd the sun moves into Air sign Libra, where it will stay until October 23rd. On October 23rd it moves into Scorpio.
Librans will experience their power period from September 23rd through October 23rd. And they will have an "extra special" power time on their actual birthday, amplified at the exact hour and time of their birth.
There's really a lot of "magic" available to everybody at their birthdays, and through their whole birth month.
The sun changes sign every four weeks, but it doesn't always change sign on the 23rd of the month. Sometimes it will change on the 22nd, the 21st, or even as early as the 19th. These times change every year. You need an astrological calendar to keep track of the exact dates. Llewellyn Books sells many good ones. I use their Daily Planetary Guide. The 2007 edition is out now, you can buy it here:

2007 Daily Planetary Guide (Llewellyn's Daily Planetary Guide)
The Llewellyn guide is a great guide for both the layman and the experienced astrologer. The front part contains weekly overviews of all of the planetary energies going on each week of the year. The rest of the guide is a kind of day planner with space to write down appointments, goals, etc, and also within each day the editors list the major planetary trends going on. So if there is a full moon, you'll be given the exact hour of the full moon and what sign it falls in. If there's a new moon, you'll know. If Mercury is going retrograde, you'll be able to map out the exact three and a half week period when that is going on. So it can be very useful to help you start noticing how what you're feeling correlates with what is going on with the planets. In the very back of the guide, there is a traditional "ephemeris" or condensed planet chart of all the movements and angular relationships of the planets. You can ignore this if you're not an astrologer.
Happy Birthday to You!
Birthdays are a great time to celebrate all that we have been and all that we are becoming. I love birthdays. I look at the numbers floating by each year with enjoyment, not dismay. I love getting older. Hopefully, it means I'm getting smarter!
Here's wishing YOU a very happy birthday and a wonderful solar return month, whenever your birthday falls.
