Happy Summer Solstice if you're reading this today, June 21st, 2006!

Today is the summer solstice, one of four major "power" days when the veil between spiritual realms is thinnest. It's a great day for accessing energies of peace, love, and healing. I urge you to make some time today to connect with Spirit and to invoke good energies on behalf of yourself, your loved ones, and the entire world. Your prayers and meditations can have a huge impact if you do them over the next three days, when this energy remains strong.

The Sun Moves Into Cancer June 21st Through July 22nd, 2006

The sun is also moving into Water sign Cancer today, where it will remain for four weeks. Cancer is a reflective, psychic, and highly sensitive sign. Cancerians feel a lot, but they're not into emoting heavily or playing the drama queen (like their Leo or Aries friends!) Still, if you know a Cancer, it's important to realize that he or she is a very sensitive being whose psyche is like a fine resolution film. They pick up EVERYTHING, soaking up both positive and bad energies like a sponge. They just tend to internalize what they're feeling, keeping everything balled up inside.

While the sun is in Cancer, people born under the signs of Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces (all Water signs) will be feeling more confident and energized than they have in months. This is a personal new year of sorts for all Water signs. And if your rising sign or moon sign is in a Water sign, you'll also receive a hit of positive energy over the next four weeks.

New Moon in Cancer Sunday, June 25th at 12:05 pm

I want to remind everyone that this weekend we have another new moon. This one happens in the sign of Cancer. It occurs Sunday June 25th at 12:05 pm Eastern Time here in the US (that's New York time.)

New moons are a good time to focus on conditions and situations you wish to manifest in your life, including abundant health, emotional and spiritual well-being, and prosperity. It's best to write yourself a new moon abundance check within three days of the new moon or at the actual time of the new moon, when the energy is strongest.

Mercury Goes Retrograde July 4 Through July 28th

Although new moons are good times overall, Mercury is also preparing to go retrograde soon. So what that means is that Mercury is slowing down this whole week and next week, which can create a bit of an ungrounded or restless feeling. If you keep changing your mind about things or find it difficult to focus, that's because Mercury is slowing down and affecting the magnetism of the brain. You may wish to allow extra time to complete important tasks, because you might not be functioning as sharply as usual.

Mercury will be retrograde from July 4th through July 28th. So for most of July it's best to rework, revise, and revisit - basically, any activity with "re" in front of it! Don't push ahead too aggressively with new projects or relationships in July because they are likely to take a lot of extra time to come to maturity. These things will flow foward more smoothly after Mercury goes direct on July 28th.

So, there's a lot of planetary activity right now, but if you focus on accessing the positive energies of the summer solstice, the new moon, and the sun moving through Cancer, you'll be able to weather this upcoming Mercury retrograde without breaking a sweat!
