**This blog will be on vacation. It will resume Tuesday, September 6th. Meanwhile, check out my piece about the new moon on September 3rd.

Animal Communicators and Pet Psychics

Dr. Bernie Siegel wrote a moving essay for the October issue of the magazine Spirituality and Health. He talks about how he was looking after his son's cat, Boo Boo, and the cat ran away. Having had no luck finding her, Siegel eventually contacted animal communicator and intuitive Amelia Kinkade, author of Straight from the Horse's Mouth.

Amelia was able to pinpoint exactly where Boo Boo had run off to, the animals at that other house who were keeping her penned in and preventing her from being able to get any food, and other specific details about Boo Boo's condition. Based on this information, Seigel was able to track Boo Boo down and bring her home.

The situation the kitty had ended up in was exactly as the animal intuitive described. Two dogs and an outdoor cat were intimidating Boo Boo because she had dared to intrude on their territory, and they were terrorizing the poor thing. Boo Boo had taken refuge under some steps, hiding in fear.

Now Boo Boo is doing just fine and has recovered from her adventures.

Animal psychics are real, and many psychics are equally as gifted with tuning into humans as well as animals. I'm kind of a mutt in this regard, myself. I tune into everybody from trees to animals to people to angels. I always enjoy a good conversation! Beings from every level of reality have much to teach us.

Whippy the Lake Monster Appears in Canada

An innkeeper recently presented photos of "Whippy," a lake monster said to inhabit Lake Massawippi in British Columbia. Supposedly, the photos were taken over the past few weeks by a tourist who was passing through. Locals have been reporting "Whippy" sightings on the Lake for years, but these are the first clear photos taken.

Whippy is kind of cute. His shape isn't like the profile of "Nessie" of Loch Ness or "Champ" of Lake Champlain. His shape is different.

I'm headed up to Lake Placid in the Adirondacks soon. I'd love to see a lake critter up there and do my own photo shoot. I wonder if one will stop by?

Beware the Belly Puss!

(I haven't had much luck logging into my cat blog hosted by Blogspot for several months. I wanted to make this post there today, but I think I'll make it here. This will be an animal entry. Be warned!)

I keep telling my honey that he shouldn't be buying so many cat treats for our cats. They're over-indulged as it is. I swear, this weekend when we went to the grocery store, there were more treats for our cats than there was food for us. (Of course, now that we have seven, er, eight cats, we do need to buy a lot of food for them now.)

I think this fat cat in the photo is very cute, but I worry about his health. Fat cats are more prone to diabetes and physical problems. This guy needs to start practicing one of the more athletic styles of yoga or something. I don't think he's touched his toes in a while. Maybe he could hook up with Madonna and she could teach him Iyengar Yoga, which keeps both her and rock star buddy Sting slim.

This type of cat is almost an entirely new species - the Belly Puss.

The Belly Puss is cuddly and voluminous, always complimentary of his host's cooking, and very useful as furniture adornment (since he doesn't move around much.)

Order yourself a Belly Puss today! (Or not.)

Is David Bowie Plugged Into the Quantum?

Many of you are familiar with Jeff Rense's alternative news site, http://www.rense.com

He posts fascinating links to news items the mainstream media wouldn't dare touch. I'm most interested in his metaphysical posts, which sometimes get lost amidst the political commentary and anti-war links. I was fascinated by one he posted today.

It's a link to an article about a very revealing interview David Bowie gave some years ago in which he talked about his own experiences seeing a UFO flying in a field. Bowie was heavily into his Ziggy Stardust space alien rock star persona at the time. Yet he made comments that were seemingly grounded in a real understanding of the world of the quantum, that multi-dimensional framework for mapping out realities we have yet to fully explore.

Occasionally I find myself remote viewing a celebrity in my dreams, and the information I pick up is accurate about 85% of the time. For instance, a year or so ago I had a dream about Russell Crowe playing rugby, and in the news later that week was some announcement about a recent match he had played in. Turned out that he's an avid player, something I did not know at the time I had the dream. Was I remote viewing that game he was playing? Perhaps.

Sometime within the past few years I had a remote viewing experience about David Bowie. I was attending a small concert he was giving. It seemed like a private event, kind of a casual, "unplugged" performance. He was testing the amps and the microphones before the concert, and nobody was in the audience yet except for a few techies setting equipment up.

As Bowie played a little on his guitar, he looked right at me. I was sitting in the front row. In that moment, I KNEW the guy was "tuned in." I said, "You're an empath, aren't you?" referring to the type of psychic who perceives information through a form of direct sense perception. I'm an empath. And in that moment, I suddenly knew Bowie was one, too.

He gave me a piercing glance with those multi-colored eyes of his (he has one pale blue eye and one hazel eye) and sort of smiled in acknowledgment. Although he didn't actually say "Yes," I could tell that he knew that I knew. . . and it was like we were sharing a private secret between us.

That was all that happened in the dream, me observing him getting ready for this small concert and asking him if he was an empath. But it was a very vivid dream of the type I've come to recognize as a true psychic "remote viewing" dream.

So I was very interested to read that, in the past, Bowie has been a bit more open to the media about his interest in UFO's and a more quantum view of reality.

Have a peek at the article and read Bowie's comments.

Full Moon in Aquarius 1:53 pm Today Eastern Time

If you've been feeling a little nervy or wound up, or if you've been noticing your animals acting all manic, keep in mind that there is a full moon today. It happens in the Air sign of Aquarius at 1:53 pm Eastern Daylight Time.

Full moons are a time when every emotion, every unresolved issue, that we've been processing for the past thirty days seeks release. It's our energy system's way of purging psychic debris we've been carrying around.

Everybody is affected by it.

If you've had a stressful month, things could build to a crescendo today as energies conspire to get you to LET IT ALL OUT. Stomp your feet, have a good scream, or, better yet, sweat it all out at the gym.

If your life hasn't been so stressful this month but a close loved one has been experiencing stress, you might feel emotions building up and seeking release, too. Our energy systems are very linked to our loved ones and close workmates because we spend so much time with them and share so much of the same psychic "air." So you're actually taking on their emotional stuff for them a lot of times.

So if your honey has been overwhelmed and cranky for weeks, you've been passively absorbing a lot of this for the last thirty days, and the full moon will encourage you to find a way to jettison this stuff. In close relationships, we all do this for each other.

Women also do this through their menstrual cycle. Women don't just purge their own psychic debris as they bleed each month. They also clear out goop for their immediate circle of companions and loved ones. And yet women get blamed for PMS! How disconnected are we from understanding and honoring what is really happening with our personal energy? Those who honor the old ways know this. But that's a small segment of the world's population these days.

When the full moon energies build up, the trick is to catch yourself and NOTICE that you have this need for purging and to find a way to do this that is productive, not destructive.

The way most of us usually handle the full moon goes something like this:

Dad yells at mom, mom yells at kid, kid kicks the dog, dog chases cat, cat pounces on mouse.

This method works, but it's not very pleasant, and it creates ill feeling and emotional drama most of us would rather not experience.

An alternative way of handling things would be for Dad to recognize that he's building up a head of steam and go jogging, hit the gym, go dancing, something to sweat it all out. Or he could take a hot salt tub (putting some sea salt in a bathtub and soak in the warm water about 20-30 minutes to clear his energy field of toxins and relax his muscles, too.)

Or he could tell family members he's going through some intense stuff and he needs some time alone. He might do some meditating, some relaxation exercises, or another form of contemplation or spiritual work so he can get in touch with the energies he's experiencing. Once you can put your finger on what your energy system is trying to tell you, it's a lot easier to release it. You have to GET IT before you can let go of it. If you don't take time to GET IT, those unresolved issues and emotions will keep circulating within you and percolate through you until the next full moon, when you'll have another chance to release them.

What do I mean when I talk about releasing stuff?

It's a little like the act of forgiveness. If you've ever done forgiveness work, it's about going through a process of internal dialogue geared toward moving through something that has been holding you back.

I've posted a new article that explains The Five Steps to Healing and Forgiveness.

Scottish Swimmers Take Out Insurance Against Nessie Bites

This was first reported in the news a few weeks ago, but since we're discussing mysterious creatures, I thought I'd bring it up. On July 6th The Guardian reported that swimmers who would be competing in an upcoming triathlon event in Scotland had taken out some 1 million pounds worth of insurance against Nessie bites. Apparently, since they'd all be swimming in the famous Loch Ness, they wanted to be on the safe side.

I didn't find any follow up report about the triathlon, which must have taken place by now. I'm assuming that this was a Nessie-free event, since we didn't hear any tales of swimmers getting munched on by prehistoric serpentine creatures in the lake.

Unless the press is hiding something from us. . .

"I'm not telling you a thing. Burp!"

The Sasquatch Near You

I found an interesting article at Rense.com about some of the more recent Sasquatch sightings around the US and Canada. I'm fascinated by these gentle, shy creatures, who have never been known to hurt anyone. I was really peeved that in the most recent Star Wars movie we hardly got to see Chewbacca's planet at all. I wanted to watch a movie called World of the Wookies.

There are many anomalous creatures who share this planet with us, and information about them does leak out, in spite of the mainstream press and their campaign to discredit all such news. There have been SO many recorded UFO sightings all around the world, complete with great video evidence, and yet they never appear in the mainstream news. You have sightings witnessed by thousands of people at once in Mexico, yet these aren't reported here. Do Mexican UFO's not "count?" What's up with that? And then there were the famous Gulf Breeze Sightings in Florida in the 80's, which were also experienced by thousands of people who provided compelling photographic and video evidence. But did Dan Rather ever talk about this on the evening news? No.

Speaking of Dan Rather - do you remember when Connie Chung coanchored the news with him from 1993 - 1995? I remember during that time she made an offhand comment to someone which was broadcast on another show. A reporter asked her where they got their news, how they decided what news to broadcast. Her response was very odd. She said something like, "That's easy. We get the okay from Washington and we report what they tell us." She wasn't joking or cracking a smile, either. She was completely serious.

Very soon after that, she lost her coanchoring job with Dan Rather, and she quickly became much more invisible in the world of TV News. It took her a long time to rise through the ranks again. Was this punishment for having spoken the truth in an unguarded moment? I heard what she said in that interview, and I remember being shocked at the time that she would admit what was going on. Maybe she didn't think it was a big deal!

But some of us aren't particularly fond of the idea of a government who screens all breaking news stories, deciding if they are fit for consumption.

There are a LOT of sightings of odd and mysterious creatures, and since local news outlets rarely follow up on these sightings, most people shy away from telling anybody about them. So what does surface in the news is a tiny percentage of what is really going on. Believe me, I know. Back when I had a counseling practice and worked with over 10,000 people from a variety of backgrounds, I became the "confessor" to a lot of folks who would report major UFO sightings, abduction experiences, and other strange stuff. These people had nowhere to go with their stories, and I hated that. I gathered a lot of first person anecdotes about odd things.

I've written in this blog before about my own sightings of a weird, dog-like being which is not a recognizable species - neither dog nor fox nor wildcat. Here in Central New Jersey, lots of people are seeing these animals out and about. They seem to like being on farmland, possibly because they can catch their food here. There have been numerous sightings of this type of non-dog all around the country, including a bunch in Texas.

Here's a (somewhat gruesome) photo of a dead one found in Texas: Look here.

And here's a blurry photo of a live animal in profile. This is exactly the profile of the animals I've seen. They have this weird, long tail that makes you think it might be a wildcat at first glance. Then you realize it's some strange doglike critter. See profile here.

I also knew a man who had a strange sighting in the late 70's of a huge, tall, birdlike being on a remote beach in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was spending the night on this beach, and the local townspeople had warned him not to do that because something strange lived there. Well, this man went there, anyway. He dismissed their warning.

In the middle of the night as he slept on the beach he heard this loud breathing right behind him, and he knew some kind of animal was there. Except the animal seemed to be really tall, hovering over him, not down near ground level. He stayed incredibly still, "playing dead," and eventually the creature seemed to leave. After a little while, he summoned up the courage to take a peek. He saw a creature from the back who was kind of like the gryphon of mythology, a large birdlike being who walked on two legs and had huge, long wings that sort of dragged down at its sides. There was enough moonlight for him to see the animal pretty well. He guessed it to be seven or eight feet tall - really big.

The next day, he examined the tracks the creature had made. It had walked right up behind him and stood there, and the creature left behind large, bipedal footprints that were clawlike, not footlike. This man's own foot (a healthy size 12) was much smaller than the footprints made by this animal.

He went back and mentioned some of what he'd seen to the locals, and they didn't want to talk to him about it. They did acknowledge that creatures like these were in the area, and not much was known about them. The locals seemed to just avoid that particular beach and leave the creatures a wide berth.

I Had My Aura Photo Taken

My honey and I went to a local holistic fair yesterday and had tons of fun. We encountered many gifted healers and talked shop with them about healing, energy management, and more.

One of the cool things we did was to get our photos taken with the WinAura auric photography camera. We'd always wanted to do that, and a friendly husband and wife team spent a lot of time with us talking about what the different readouts meant on the photos they printed out.

It's nice to get feedback about stuff that you're already working with as an energy sensitive. The readings we received verified many things that we've been working on, which was incredible. It's great to get outside confirmation that your metaphysical "homework" is producing some real effects in your energy field.

My thanks go out to all the gifted, loving healers we encountered. I know I gave my business card to some of you, so if you read this blog entry, I'm talking about YOU! Thanks for all of your great inspiration and generous healing work. Big fat energy hugs to Adolphina Shepard (instant kindred spirit,) Kathleen Monahan (amazing healer,) and Joan Campbell (inspiring psychic guide.) We were humbled and uplifted by all three of you. You ladies rock!

You can see some photos of people with different colored auras taken with the WinAura camera here.

And if auras intrigue you, check out the interview I did with my wonderful energy sensitive friend, Cynthia Larson. She's the author of the book Aura Advantage, which is simply fabulous. Read her interview here.

Defining the Mystic

I came across the following definitions for the word "mystic" in an online lexicon:

Mystic, the Noun form:

1. mystic, religious mystic -- someone who believes in the existence of realities beyond human comprehension.

The adjective form:

1. mysterious, mystic, mystical, occult, secret, orphic -- having an import not apparent to the senses nor obvious to the intelligence; beyond ordinary understanding; "mysterious symbols"; "the mystical style of Blake"; "occult lore"; "the secret learning of the ancients.")

2. mystic, mystical -- relating to or resembling mysticism; "mystical intuition"; "mystical theories about the securities market."

3. mystic, mystical -- relating to or characteristic of mysticism; "mystical religion."

Alas, dictionaries are not yet referencing the term "Lipstick Mystic," whose definition goes something like this:

Lipstick Mystic, Noun:

1. Someone who provides a map of realities formerly beyond human comprehension and embedded in superstition, ignorance, and misunderstanding. Someone who brings forward the lost energy wisdom of the ancients and shows how the worlds of science, holistic health, and modern spirituality are validating energies formerly thought of as "mystical" but now regarded as "quantum," i.e. really really cool.

2. Lipstick Mystic, a casual and girly mystic, someone with her feet firmly on the ground, a guide who takes the most obscure metaphysical concept and translates it into comprehensible, user-friendly terms.

3. Lipstick Mystic, someone who helps others see the vast worlds of magic and spiritual beauty that have always existed within them and around them.

Editor's note: It would be nice to make it into the dictionary someday.

Mercury Retrograde Cheesecake

Mercury retrograde tends to affect the flow of items being delivered or ordered. I recently ordered a birthday cheesecake for my father from a company I order from frequently. I wasn't worried about it being sent during this recent heatwave, because past cakes and cheesecakes were always delivered with an accompanying ice pack to keep the cakes fresh. I just assumed that ice would be included with this delivery.

Well, it wasn't. My poor Daddy received an unpleasantly hot cheesecake from the delivery person, and it was clear that this was Mercury retrograde cheesecake. It wasn't really safe to eat, it had gotten too hot.

Fortunately, the company has promised to send out another one. Let's hope the curse of retrograde doesn't affect this order.

One of the themes for Mercury retrograde is having to "redo" things. You often have to rework, revise, reorder, redeliver, etc. There is more of a tendency to make small errors and to space out about stuff, so tasks frequently need to be redone.

Earlier this year during another Mercury retrograde time I experienced a phenomenon known as Mercury retrograde pizza. I had called our local pizza guys to order a pizza, and I went to pick it up. When I got there, my pizza had been accidentally given to someone else. No problem, I figure. I'll just take THAT person's pizza. I even got a little excited about the mystery of it all. "Maybe that person orders exotic things on their pizza like olives and garlic. Maybe this is the Universe's way of turning me on to a completely different taste sensation. This could work out fine!"

But the weird thing was that they didn't have the other guy's pizza. So there was no spare pizza for me. Sniff!

Sometimes during Mercury retrograde you can feel like you're behind the 8 ball and that someone, somewhere is laughing at you. You can feel like you've suddenly become a cast member in Shakespeare's famous crowd-pleaser, Comedy of Errors.

Obviously, an inedible cheesecake or a missing pizza are not the end of the world. These are just teeny examples of how retrograde times can create snafus and minor disappointments.

Here's hoping that YOU don't experience retrograde food items this week.

Reader's Account of Handling Mercury Retrograde Energies

Here is one reader's account of how he's been handling these Mercury retrograde energies in a positive, self-aware, way. He shows how, as long as you stay alert to the energies of this time, you can manage them to your advantage.

I loved how he describes the mindset he adopted to help him flow through this Mercury retrograde time in a positive way, with his sense of humor intact. We can all take inspiration from him!

Lipstick Mystic,

My partner and I were in Santa Fe, NM, preparing to go to settlement on the purchase of our future home.  Days before when we left our East coast location we realized that the entire 10 day trip and all transactions therein would be under the guise of Mercury Retrograde.  But it did not deter us.

The knowledge that Mercury would be constantly thwarting our efforts only made us more confident that we would be able to address any obstacles - we would be ANTICIPATING them - HAH!  Sure enough, moments after we got in the rental car to drive to the title company office for settlement, we looked at each other and said. "What's that sound?"  FLAT TIRE!  The rental car had 46 miles on it.  It was literally brand new. Nevertheless, the tire was flat.

Neither of us are car enthusiasts and wouldn't know a lug nut from a wing nut.  Okay, so all parties are waiting for us to arrive in 20 minutes.  Not to worry.  Look frustrated and forlorn and the B&B owners lend you their car. Make a few calls and the car rental company sends out a mechanic to change the tire -- AND the entire settlement had been postponed 45 minutes anyway by a delay on the part of the PRECEDING settlement (no doubt due to some Mercury shenanigans).

The settlement came off without a hitch.  Throughout the remainder of the trip, as we would misplace a phone number or make repeated attempts to perform the simplest of chores, we would look up to the sky and say, OKAY MERCURY, gimme a break please.  And then we'd move forward.  And we knew not to trust ANY malfunctioning appliance or tool.  Just chill out, check back and voíla -  all's right with the world.

We learned.  We loved. We grew.  Mercury is a tool.... to be tweaked.

Thanks for listening.

Happy Lammas Today and Upcoming New Moon on August 4th

Happy Lammas! Today is one of the four "mini-equinox" times, one of four days each year which mark the halfway point between the powerful energy gateways of the equinox and solstice times. The ancients mapped these times out as days when the energy between dimensions is thinnest and it's easier to access higher energies like angels, spiritual guides, and archetypal beings to gain spiritual wisdom. These are also wonderful times for power prayer and magical ritual, for putting applied faith into motion.

Lammas marks the period of the first harvest, and it was traditionally a time to bake the first loaves of bread for the season and to offer these loaves in ritual to Goddess or God as an affirmation of abundance.

There is also a new moon happening this Thursday, August 4th, which is a powerful day of spiritual energy, too. The new moon happens in the sign of Leo at 11:05 pm Eastern Daylight Time.

The combination of Lammas occurring today and the new moon happening Thursday mean that this is week is a great time to focus on clearing out negative energy, accessing spiritual wisdom and illumination, and setting intentions about what we wish to create in our lives.

These two links will tell you a bit more about the traditions surrounding Lammas. The second link is to an article I've posted before about the energy of the equinox and solstice times.
