Don't Mess With the Fortune Chicken, Or She'll Give You a Major Pecking!

Sometimes it's a hoot looking at the server logs for this site and seeing what search phrases and keywords people have used to end up here.

Today this one caught my eye. Somebody had typed in the following and somehow ended up at my site because of it:

"How to use a powerful chicken ritual words."

Hmm.

Made me wonder. . .just what, exactly, was the person intending on doing during this powerful chicken ritual?

I hope he or she was planning to do something nice to the chicken, like dressing her up in pretty lace or treating her to some nice, organic grain.

Because....if they intended to do a terrible deed to the chicken...well....she might just have to get ANGRY.

Do no - I repeat, do not - mess with the Fortune Chicken.

Dave Barry on His Past Life as Mozart

See, this woman went to a channeller and asked if Mozart was alive today. The channeller told him that he had definitely incarnated as "a writer living in Florida." Humorist Dave Barry was a bit surprised to find out it was him!

He tells the story a lot better than me. Prepare to giggle.

Celebrities In Need of an Exorcism

Several stories have been surfacing lately about celebrities in need of an exorcism. Victoria "Posh Spice" and David Beckham were apparently so freaked out by a house they had purchased in the South of France that they finally put it up for sale. The prior owner had shot himself and Victoria was extremely spooked by the whole thing.

And Gwyneth Paltrow, who starred in Proof and who also gave birth to her second baby recently, called in an exorcist at one point to help her handle a haunted home.

Now, if only the Beckams or Gwyneth had read my prior articles:

They might be happily enjoying their homes right now.

Tiger the Wonderful Puss Has Died - Sniff!

We're very sad today. Tiger, our beautiful young striped male tabby, died very suddenly yesterday. He had been suffering from a condition that apparently is common in many male cats. He had been diagnosed with crystals in his urine a month or so ago, and this was said to have been due to him not having a diet that was alkaline enough. So we followed the vet's suggestions, gave him his antibiotics, changed his diet, and had him checked out again about a week or so ago. The vet said there were fewer crystals in his urine and that he seemed to be on the mend.

We'd been watching him very carefully for any signs of him being off his game, but he was playing, eating, and enjoying life as he had always done this past week. We did notice one unusual behavior. He and another one of our youngish males, our gray cat Baby Smokes, seemed to be interacting with a new cat who has been feeding on our back porch at night for several months. This is another striped cat whom we believe is a female, because everyone seems to get along with her, and the males can get very territorial and chase off new males that try to become a part of our household. (Or is that "cathold?")

The last few nights we noticed how Tiger and Baby Smokes would go out in the evening and wait for this new cat to show up and sort of have a CONFERENCE with her, sitting very close and seeming to commune in some way. Almost as if they were welcoming her officially into the household.

This new cat is a bit skittish but she seems healthy and nice. We haven't been able to get too close to her yet, so we just make the effort to say Hi to her and bring her some extra food when she stops by. You never know when a new cat shows up what their story is. Teddy showed up in the freezing cold one winter during subzero temperatures and pretty much said, "Let me in! I'm ready to be an indoor cat now! And I'll play by indoor cat rules!" And he's been a part of our house ever since.

So we wondered if that would happen one day with this pretty puss. We were just glad that our boys got along with her.

Tiger seemed to take a special interest in her. Tiger was a very sweet, nurturing, healer type of cat. If you had a pain or a stomachache, he'd instinctively know to lay down on you for a few minutes and he'd take the pain away. This happened more times than we can count.

We got the sense that he was looking after this new cat in some way, looking out for her and protecting her. This week, that behavior seemed especially strong for some reason.

Well, yesterday while we worked in our respective offices in our home, we heard a terrible howl like a cat was in pain. I immediately went out to see what was going on. Tiger was laying in a comfortable spot in the shade in the garden, by himself, but he had just left his body. He must have died within minutes of me hearing that howl. Perhaps instantaneously.

We're still trying to figure out exactly what happened, and we were really shocked and upset about his departure. Tiger has been so much a part of the background of our household, the sweet "middle child" cat who gets along with everyone and is just a bundle of joy. How will things ever be the same without him?

Between tears and upset last night, we buried him in a special place in the woods where he had once told me he used to go and talk to the devas. There is a lovely wood deva who watches over that section of the wood, and she told us the devas would consider it an honor if he were buried on the land there and that they would watch after him spiritually as he makes his transition to Spirit over the next three days.

Sometimes it's hard to tune in psychically when you're overly emotional, but between tears I've been able to hear from Tiger himself that he had chosen to go this way and that it was to make room for the other new cat to enter our household. Like he was making a gentlemanly exit, a self-sacrifice, so this cat could enter our home.

I still don't quite understand why that would be necessary. Although the cat dynamic when you have a large community of cats can get very complicated. Many delicate shifts and changes are going on, and sometimes things can get really out of whack when a new cat enters the scene.

But Tiger, who was one of our favorite pusses, gone? That doesn't seem possible.

We'll be drumming and doing a lot of prayer work on his behalf this week. We want him to know how much we dearly, dearly love him and will always hold him close in our hearts.

I sometimes get psychic premonitions when there is a problem with our cats. Some of these have been very specific. I wasn't really paying attention yesterday, but I remember looking at the screensaver photo I have of Tiger on my desktop and I thought to myself, "Pretty soon this will be all I have left of Tiger," and the thought came to me out of the blue. I told myself to snap out of it and not be negative, and I was so busy the rest of the day with work that I didn't stop to consider that this might be a real premonition.

I have an agreement with my guides and Higher Self that I don't want to have premonitions about sad events if I am not in a position to change those events. In this case, Tiger was clear that he had chosen to leave us in this way, and it was like we weren't supposed to interfere.

At least his passing was immediate, and it happened at home and not in a sterile hospital. And at least he was able to enjoy what has turned out to be a lovely spring here this year, with tons of lovely weather, naps out in the garden, and frolicking with the rest of our cat family.

Tiger, we'll miss you more than you can possibly know. Thanks for being a part of our lives for the time that we had you with us. We will always treasure the gift of your companionship.

Seattle, WA June 2 - 4 - Author To Prove Magick is Real

One problem that metaphysical practitioners often have is that they're not given sufficient room, time, or interest from skeptics to show what they can do.

Philip H. Farber is a magick practitioner who plans to give three days of lectures, seminars, and presentations in Seattle at the Capitol Hill Arts Center June 2 through June 4th.

Farber is trained in hypnotisim, various forms of magick, and neuro-linguistic programming. He believes that the mind can be used to change the world and that these techniques can be easily learnt. He's developed a system of mind over matter called Meta-Magick.

It all sounds very interesting and fun. You have to remember that magick, despite the mystique surrounding the world, is the same thing as power prayer or applied faith. If you truly believe in the Divine, in Spirit, in God/Goddess/The Big Cheese/etc., and you truly believe that you can connect with this energy, then usually you also believe that prayer can create changes in matter, affecting the events of our lives. Faith healing and manifestation are two terms used to describe the effects when prayer is done correctly.

Well, magick is ritual with a different name that dares to postulate that we can step INTO that divine energy and direct it to create changes in the world.

At his presentation, Farber will present material drawn from his forthcoming book The Book of Atem: Secrets of Modern Evocation. He says that his Meta-Magick system involves about 100 exercises that help you to align your mind so that you can access the creative energy of magic.

You can read more about Farber's work and find out how to register for his presentation and order tickets here:

Ancient Submerged Cities in Japan, Bosnia, and India

At any given time there are numerous investigations going on into mysterious submerged cities that have been found throughout the world. Some of them have been clearly identified as man-made cities dating back more than 9,000 years. Others still inspire debate as to whether the structures found were created by man or created by nature.

Right now there is a lot of excitement in Visoko, a city about 18 miles north of Sarajevo in Bosnia. People there claim to have discovered an underground pyramid which some researchers believe was built 12,000 years ago by the ancestors of the Illyrians, the first inhabitants of the Balkans.

There was also a dramatic discovery in 1985 off the coast of Yonaguni-Jima, Japan of some stone structures which many archeologists believe were carved by man. There are structures that look like statues, walkways, and huge stone steps. And if you scroll down the page, you'll see a startling image of a submerged statue that looks very much like the Sphinx. Over the years, researches into Atlantean times have accessed information about multiple Sphinxes that were placed throughout the world. Supposedly, each Sphinx was placed at a special power spot on the Earth's magnetic grid. Lemuria was the ancient land that was said to have once been in the Pacific. Could this submerged Sphinx from Japan date from that civilization?

And don't forget the 2001 discovery of an underwater city off the western coast of India. Lots of material has been excavated there, including construction material, pottery, sections of walls, beads, sculpture and human bones and teeth, and it has been carbon dated and found to be nearly 9,500 years old.

We know so little about civilizations that have come and gone before us. I'm glad the archeologists around the world are still digging and finding more answers to age-old questions about these lost cities.

You Never Want to Cross an Elf by Brad Steiger

In the current issue of Fate Magazine author Brad Steiger shares some intriguing true stories about people's encounters with elves, fairies, and other "Hidden Folk."

I don't think he has all of his information quite right about the elves, or the other fascinating creatures in his article, because he kind of lumps all of these various beings together. And they are very different.

I'm not allowed to write about my own encounters with elves yet because they are such a private and sensitive people and they have asked me not to. Steiger's article isn't really accurate about elves, but the first person stories about people's encounters with other Hidden Folk are very interesting.

Some of them are "spot on," others aren't.

Have a looksie.

Happy May Day or Beltane

I've written about the solstices and the equinoxes before, those mini "power" periods throughout the year when the veil between dimensions is thinnest. Traditionally throughout indigenous cultures these have been honored as times for spiritual ritual, religious celebration, and entertainment and celebration.

Well, there are also four "mini" equinox periods that happen throughout the year. Although the energies of these days aren't quite as strong as they are during the equinox and solstice, they are halfway points that do carry their own powerful vibration.

May 1st or Beltane is such a day.

You've probably heard about the "lusty month of May," when fertility rites were going on in the pagan world, and when people got into all manner of mischief and fun. That's today!

So whether you're dancing around the maypole today, spending time in prayer or meditation, or dancing with your cat as I will be doing, enjoy the day!
