Happy Halloween Weekend Plus New Moon Tuesday the 1st

If you don't have your broomstick picked out and your candy bag all ready, you still have a few days to prepare for Halloween. This time is actually one of eight yearly "gateway" periods when the veil between dimensions is thinnest. The last significant time period like this was at the autumnal equinox, and the next one will be the winter solstice.

This weekend the Halloween or Samhain energies will be strong, so it's a good time for prayer, meditation, and setting affirmations. Don't be afraid to do your own form of "magic," whatever that may be. Intentions set into motion around the gateway times assume extra power as they gather mass on the inner planes, speeding their pathway to manifestation. This enery coupled with the new moon in Scorpio on Tuesday, November 1st, make for a powerful few days.

I've written before about new moons, and you can scroll down my home page to read my series of articles about writing yourself a new moon abundance check. Abundance checks are a fun min-ritual or meditation to help you connect with the spiritual energy of the new moon period.

Tuesday's new moon in Scorpio happens at 8:25 pm Eastern Standard Time. (Remember, here in the US we'll be moving our clocks back an hour for Daylight Saving Time. We'll "gain" an extra hour but the down side is that it will now be getting dark earlier in the evening. A big "Boo!" to that!)

New moons in Scorpio can carry an intensity to them, stirring up a desire for revenge and a need to proven "right." This is likely to surface in bitter public debates between the Republicans and the Democrats, especially since so many of Bush's pals are being arrested these days.

In your own life, try not to get drawn into arguments and learn how to agree to disagree. Instead of insisting on being "right," focus on being loving. That way, you'll have a lot more fun as these complex energies show us all sides of a situation.

Now, I still have to choose my costume for Monday. Hmm.

The Pros and Cons of Being a Celebrity, Um, Journalist

Many of you are readers of my sassy syndicated astrology column, Lipstick Mystic™ Stars. It comes out weekly. It runs in various arts papers across the country, including Philadelphia Weekly, Access Atlanta, and Core Weekly of Madison, Wisconsin. These horoscopes take a twisted look at pop culture and poke fun at absurd celebrities, politicians, and trends in the news.

I created this column over three years ago in rebellion against all of those incredibly boring or infinitely improbable astrology columns you see everywhere. I set out to take real astrology and bend it in service to comedy. So my column is like a standup routine, yet the astrology trends I cover in each horoscope are real.

Having the job that I do has its good and bad aspects. All jobs do, of course. On the plus side, I am probably one of about two people on the planet who can actually deduct the cost of The National Enquirer and Star Magazine from her yearly taxes. I have to use those rag mags to keep me abreast of the latest Hollywood gossip. How can I make a joke in a horoscope about Russell Crowe beating somebody up unless I've been updated about who he's lashed out at lately? And what if there's some late-breaking news about Britney Spears' grooming habits that would be ideal fodder for a joke? Inquiring minds must know!

The downside of my work is that my brain turns to mush each week from having to pour through so much pop cultural silliness. I'm always more interested in what it says about us as a society that we're so obsessed with Brad Pitt's latest fart (well, actually, he's so yummy, I doubt he even has the same bodily functions that the rest of us do.) If all our money is being pumped into celeb magazines written for people with about a fifth grade reading level, and there aren't even any actual articles in these magazines that run longer than 800 words, what does that say about literacy in this country? Celeb magazines are spawning faster than sequels to The Apprentice. They're doing very well, sales-wise, so more and more of them keep popping up.

What concerns me the most is how the current objects of obsession have no class, brains, or beauty. Remind me - why is Paris Hilton famous again? Explain to me why so much money is being spent tracking Britney Spears' every burp? Aren't there, like, a few more important things going on in the world?

Actually, it's because there's so much depressing, heavy stuff happening on the world stage that escapism has become so popular. I would bet that far fewer copies of Time and Newsweek are being sold than issues of People and Us Weekly. Ducking our heads and ignoring the "real" news in favor of the fluffy stuff seems to be the way things are going. I admit it, I count myself as part of that. I get a little tired of praying and drumming for the spirits of so many dead people - from earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, and neverending, pointless war. (All war is pointless. It just perpetuates the slave cycle we humans always take on - breed children for the Motherland who will then be sent off to die in excruciating ways. Shower. Rinse. Repeat. The same mindless actions over and over again, generation after generation.)

I don't blame anybody for seeking solace in the arts. I love music, movies, and TV in small quantities. But when life becomes a 10 hour escape to a video game or six hours of mindless vegetation in front of the TV, that's not so good. And that's where most of the U.S. seems to be focused these days, collapsing on a pile of its own collective inertia.

Okay, enough heavy stuff. Here are my current horoscopes for the signs of Virgo and Libra.

Virgo: (August 23-September 22): Give vent to those wild sexual desires. A sexy sun in Scorpio has you lost in erotic fantasy. “If only Vince Vaughn were making kissyface with me instead of Jennifer Aniston. I’d show him what it’s like to be a good Friend.” Concentrate your attention a little closer to home. There could be a moist and willing neighbor looking to hook up with you. Or a nubile young delivery person might be hoping to get to know you better. Here’s to a week of living lustfully.

Libra: (September 23-October 23): Michael Jackson surprised a chambermaid at London’s Dorchester Hotel when he answered the door to his suite in a Mickey Mouse costume. His kids were dressed up as Tinkerbell, Peter Pan, and Captain Hook. You’re sure that they were all just having a little harmless family fun. Really. Uranus is inspiring you to indulge your own eccentricities. “Meet Pete, my new iguana. I’ve knitted him a little jacket because he can’t stand the cold. I’m thinking about marketing a whole line of iguana gear. Lizard Lederhosen could bring in big bucks.”

You can read the rest of this week's scopes a few places online. Philadelphia Weekly posts them each week, and so does GayWired.com.

Visit DailyOm for Daily Inspiration

DailyOm.com is an upbeat site that provides daily snippets of inspiration on subjects ranging from meditation to health to maintaining a positive mindset. You can subscribe to receive their DailyOm essays by email or simply check out the new posts each day at the site. They change them every day.

Today's DailyOm is about hugging a tree and how grounding that can be. I agree - trees can be wonderful pals and partners in healing. As the weather gets cooler, though, the devas connected to each tree "go to sleep" just as the physical tree does, so it's best not to bother a tree too much from the time the leaves fall off the tree in autumn to the time when the buds first bloom in the spring. The trees need their rest just like humans do, only trees take a long winter's nap. Sounds inviting, doesn't it? I wish I were a tree. Maybe I am a tree. I do tend to get lethargic and need lots of naps in the cold weather season.

Oh, my. I just glanced at myself in the mirror, and guess what I saw?

You can also scroll through their archived DailyOms for inspiration and fun. Here's a good archived piece about kinesiology or muscle testing and understanding the messages and reactions of the physical body.

A Whole Lot of Shaking Going On

Okay, could the extreme weather patterns we've been seeing get any more crazy?

The Earth periodically has to let off some steam when those who are living on her are under extreme psychic distress. With some seven billion people currently stomping around on her surface - and, who knows? Perhaps some reptilians species or other anomalous beings living below it - there is a lot of energy being projected. And since most of these folks live in poverty and under conditions where it is highly unlikely for them to ever escape from that condition, there's not a whole lot of joy and peace circulating.

Is it so surprising, then, that the Earth would start to mirror what the majority of humanity is going through? We're a psychically fragmented, essentially psychotic species who has yet to fully reclaim our wholeness. Those who do come along to try to teach us how to become whole again through various ancient techniques like soul retrieval, personal exorcism and clearing, power prayer and color energy work are still marginalized and largely ignored. Or, like Jesus, they are simply crucified and removed from the Earth plane (although that strategy didn't work out so well for the bad guys, since Jesus' healing presence and love is more available to us now from the higher dimensions. His physical walk upon this Earth was merely the start, not the end point.)

Healers have to take care of themselves, and if the "patients" turn on you, you need to back away. If you're dealing with a rabid dog whose primary intention is to bite you when you attempt to help it, that even the kindest of healers will eventually just say "Screw it." That rabid dog is humanity right now - full of anger and woundedness and lashing out at anyone who attempts to heal it. Believe me, I and most healers I know have the bite marks to prove it.

This is what it's like for me in social situations when I briefly talk about the nature of my work. I'll be in a group of people who seem perfectly nice and rabies-free on the surface, and I'll mention a little about this website and what I do for a living. The people around me instantly turn into the creature above.

This is the experience of so many healers right now. The real "front lines" have never been in Iraq or Afghanistan. They are right here, on the continual psychic battlefront of the human energy system. And yet we all try to be of help and inspiration as best we can, and so many of us are drawn to some form of spiritual service in this "war against the ghouls" as Stuart Wilde so vividly describes it.

I recently realized I've written over 1500 pages of free material over this past year, posted here on this website and in various alternative forums. That's in addition to writing weekly and monthly columns professionally for various publications. While I have greatly treasured the emails I've received and the connections I've made with my lovely readers, the energy equation hasn't been adding up for me for a long time. So I'm going to be redesigning this site, launching a series of other sites as "sister sites" to this one, and shaking things up a bit. I'd love to be able to afford to be in healing and helping mode all the time, but I do have to pay the bills.

I'm also working on forthcoming ebooks, which I will announce here, and which may prove to be a more focused way for me to still share information with people while receiving energy in return as they are sold.

I know it's hard for readers to see things from where I stand because we haven't had a chance to connect in the flesh, and you don't really know me. But I am the type of person who feels incredibly burdened all the time by the sheer amount of beautiful information that is constantly being shown to me by the angels in my meditations. The angels don't mean to burden me, of course! And I do receive these teachings with great love and thankfulness in my heart. But on a human level I don't quite know what to do with the thousands of pages of information I have at this point, with more being given to me every day.

Just this past weekend we attended a ball which was held at the Philadelphia Naval Yard, site of the famous Philadelphia Experiment. The energy there was very "off." Later on we were given about eight pages of notes on the nature of time travel, probability shifts, how to heal events through time, and more. We periodically receive teachings on time, which I find very fascinating. In this particular download, Mother Earth shared information first about how she perceives time. (Did you know that planets are incarnated spiritual beings who chose to move through time while they are in physical form, just as humans do? The main difference being that their life cycle in material form is much longer.) And then the time angels came in to show us what really happened during the Philadelphia Experiment and revealed to us the race to conquer time which was occurring between the Russians and the Americans all through the Cold War area. And then there was more information about current day time travel.

One thing I found fascinating was how the early time travelers working for the governments could journey to the same exact date and location and experience COMPLETELY DIFFERENT REALITIES. That one through the time engineers for a loop. How could that be? They thought their instrumentation was wrong.

Well, it had to do with the spiritual vibration of each man who was doing the time traveling. This affected which probability he ended up in. So the first guys going through were really tough veterans with lots of blood on their hands, who had been hired killers their whole lives working for the military and had a really rough energy. THEY would travel to, say, 1980 and see devastation and nuclear destruction. But later on other men traveled to the same time period and saw realities that were completely different ranging from a normal, relatively peaceful period to an even more blissful utopia. They emerged to experience these probabilities because their personal spiritual vibration was more refined, less dense, and more loving.

This has tremendous implications. It means that the probability you experience depends on the energy vibration of your system. So the challenge is to keep lightening up, even in the face of all the negative stuff that is always being projected at us.

Because the life you experience in the future really does depend upon it.

Anyway, this is just a small taste of the information that was given to us last weekend. And then we did a big shamanic healing surrounding the time derailments and the damages in the etheric that happened around the Philadelphia Experiment.

I get information like this constantly. I don't know what to do with it, folks. I'm truly overwhelmed. If I simply shared what has been shown to me on a weekly basis through this website and turned this into a subscription-based site for, say, $19.99 per month, you'd be receiving a lot of great stuff as I share downloads on different subjects. They range from advanced healing information to stuff about the nature of time to power prayer techniques to weather working to "guest lectures"' from amazing beings like Jesus and the archangel Michael, who are very concerned about humanity's well-being and our spiritual growth.

Thanks for bearing with me as I vent today. I don't have all the answers yet about what this site needs to become, although I have been immersed in heavy duty SEO, CSS, RSS and other site redesign stuff for months. Suffice it to say that I'll be gradually implementing some changes here, which I hope will make this site more accessible and entertaining for readers as well as correcting the energy balance I've been experiencing since this site's inception.

Moon Void Today and Naughty Squirrel

There's a moon void for most of today. A moon void happens every few days when the moon is in the process of changing signs. Sometimes a moon void only last a few hours, sometimes it's almost a full day. Moon voids are "take a nap" times when you may feel mentally hazy, unmotivated, or generally peevish.

Today's moon void lasts from 6:50 am Eastern Daylight Time here in the US until 10:44 pm EDT. The moon is moving from the sign of Taurus to the sign of Gemini.

I think this naughty squirrel perfectly expresses my sentiments about moon voids .

Full Moon in Aries Today Plus Moon Void

There was a full moon this morning at 8:14 am Eastern Daylight Time here in the U.S. The full moon was followed by a lunar eclipse. From about 3 pm to about 6 pm there will be a moon void (when the moon is between signs,) and then the moon moves into practical Earth sign Taurus.

The full moon was in the passionate and impulsive sign of Aries, and those energies will still be around for a day or so. If you suddenly feel the urge to strip off all your clothes and run naked through the streets, well, maybe you'll want to think twice. Not that there's anything wrong with being naked. Personally, I think if we all ran around naked, we'd start trusting each other a lot more, because we'd realize we have nothing to hide from each other.

Sidenote: I spent some time sunning myself and swimming at a nude beach years ago. I had been prompted by an adventurous friend who knew how to get to this remote New Jersey beach. It was probably the least sexual experience of my life and was a freeing, uplifting time. The crowd at the beach were mostly longtime nudist types. You could tell because they were all tanned a dark brown and had ZERO tan lines. None of them were beauty queens or hot stud types, and everyone was respectful of each other's personal space. This wasn't a pickup beach. It was a healing and relaxation beach.

I wasn't going to remove my swimsuit, but everyone was so comfortable with their bodies, they inspired me. Swimming in the ocean naked was very wonderful and cleansing. I felt a childlike sense of wonder and joy return to me that day.

So, the moral of this blog entry is - full moons can prompt us to get a little wild and crazy, but sometimes wild and crazy is exactly what we need to be.

Vows of Poverty and Abundance Consciousness

People frequently write to me with questions about how to work through financial blocks and open up to a frequency of greater material abundance. Writing yourself a new moon check is just one fun exercise that can help you to step into more abundant energy, but there are also many other things to think about as you focus on increasing your capacity to receive abundance.

I write a lot on these issues, and if you look through my past pieces on new moon abundance checks, vows of poverty, and the spiritual significance of tithing, these are excellent places to find more information.

Many spiritual people have a false piety about being poor. Without realizing it, they have adopted a core belief system that equates being "good" with being financially destitute. But what's really "good" about not being able to provide food, shelter, transportation, and medical care for yourself and your family? Doesn't sound very good to me!

Here's one article of mine which might be helpful if you need a quick, "down and dirty" explanation of how financial energy works:

http://www.lipstickmystic.com/articles/articles111304.html

And I also want to share an excerpt from author Alan Cohen's newsletter. Alan Cohen is one of the bright lights of the human potential movement. He's written over a dozen books, including Why Your Life Sucks (And What You Can Do About It.) He uses a lot of humor in his writing and considers himself to be spiritual, not religious. His website is: http://www.alancohen.com

Below is his recent response to a woman who wrote in with a question about how long someone should pray or focus on something they wish to manifest. I think his advice applies to everything, from personal matters to financial issues.

Keep Praying, or Let Go?

I read your book Handle With Prayer. I am a Christian and believe in the power of prayer. In one of your chapters, you said holding on to prayer beyond its due time is an affirmation of lack of faith and will bear negative results. You say that overpraying is in effect telling God you don't believe that He heard your request or will answer it, so I'd better badger him until I get what I want. That disturbed me because sometimes God places on our hearts to pray for someone through perseverance. As it says in the Bible through the Parable of the Persistent Widow. It speaks of persistence in prayer, which God likes and never condemns. Perhaps I'm misinterpreting what you're really trying to say. If our prayers truly come from the heart and are genuine, nothing bad will come of that. Yes, I believe in letting go and letting God but as I said if God places upon my prayers might be on behalf of that person and it is also showing how my faith is playing a part in it. I know this from a personal level. Thank you for your time.-- Dee

Hi Dee, That's a really good question. Thanks for the sincerity of your asking. I also like the parable you quoted. The lesson in "Handle with Prayer" that you refer to, focuses on overpraying. Perseverance in prayer is also valuable. In the Bible we are told to "pray without ceasing." This means that we must keep our thoughts and energies aligned with Spirit as much as possible.

How do you know whether to continue with a prayer, or to let it go? By whether or not you have come into the consciousness of the result that you are praying for. If you are praying for someone's health, for example, can you see and feel them as whole, happy, healthy, and blessed? As soon as you have clicked into that vision as if it is already done, your prayer is complete and you can release it. If, at a later time, you slip back into the thought and feeling that they are ill and not whole, it is time to pray again, until you reclaim the energy of their wholeness. The purpose of prayer is to align your mind and heart with the way God sees the situation - as already healed. If God places in your heart to pray for someone, then certainly do so. Do your best to pray from a position of celebration that the prayer is already answered.

(End Alan Cohen's writing)

He's right about praying as if the thing you wish to manifest has already happened. This is the right energy stream to dip into, and it's the most powerful place from which to recreate your life. Instead of affirming lack (i.e. "God, please bring me X because I don't have it!") you're affirming bounty (as with "God, thank you for the abundance you have provided. Thank you, thank you, thank you!")

Experiment with these ideas in your own spiritual practice, and you should feel some wonderful energy shifts and experience more happy synchronicities, where things just flow to you.

Check Out Cool Site Fengshuigeek.com

Gabrielle Alizay is a Santa Cruz-based Feng Shui expert who has just come out with a new book: Feng Shui for the Rest of Us. You can find out more about her work and her writing at her cool website:

http://www.fengshuigeek.com

I'll be posting an interview with her soon, and I can't wait! Feng shui is the art of aligning yourself with the energies of the Earth to experience greater harmony and balance in all aspects of your life. (At least, this is my own definition. I'm sure Gabrielle will express this a lot more eloquently.)

One of the simplest things you can do to balance out the "chi" or energy in your home is to reduce clutter. If you're overwhelmed by disorder in your physical environment, it stands to reason that other aspects of your life will be out of whack, too.

We've been doing some rearranging of furniture and some of that intense cleaning that you only do when you're moving a couch and you're forced to face what's been gathering beneath it. (Can we say, dust bunnies?)

Although such cleaning is no fun, we've found that by simply getting five main living spaces in order, we're feeling a lot better. We cleaned up our front and back porches, two major workspaces and our living room.

After doing this, we've noticed that we feel more emotionally balanced. Our dream space at night is clearer, and we have more joyful and light-filled dreams. And there is better business and financial flow opening up for both of us.

It was kind of weird. There was a big shift on all levels right after we spent two weekends doing this cleaning and rearranging.

Anyway, I know you'll enjoy the upcoming interview with Gabrielle. In the meantime, do check out her site. You can sign up to become a member of her Feng Shui Geek Society and have free lifetime membership if you join before November 6. Benefits include free access to the Feng Shui Geek Tank Forum, where you can ask questions about feng shui and connect with other feng shui enthusiasts. And you also get cool discounts on selected feng shui products and services that are available through the website. I highly recommend that you check it out, because she has put together an incredible package of goodies.

When People Are Mean, Simply Because They Can Be

Happy New Moon, everyone. This is a great day for clearing out toxic or chaotic energy from your life. The moon moving through the sign of Libra is creating a balanced, sociable, and creative tone. Today through mid-day Tuesday is a good period for writing, thinking, and having great conversations with people.

Sometimes clearing out chaotic energy can happen in dramatic ways. I've been a member of a forum where there are some good discussions about alternative energy, orgone construction and use, and holistic health, along with an assortment of spiritual subjects. But someone today decided to post a third party attack of me. It was weird. It seemed like the universe was saying, "Why are you hanging out here when the energy isn't supportive of what you're contributing?" So I left.

I don't quite understand this person's motivation in posting his friend's attack of me. This third party, the woman who attacked me, doesn't know me, and I don't think she's familiar with any of my body of work as a healer, teacher, and writer. She was sent a copy of one post I made about a controversial healing technique that some healers have been working with, and all she could do was call me a mind-controlled "MKid," a God hater, and a dumb New Age chick. Then she invited her friend to post her comments to the private forum, where she wasn't even a member. And the guy did so! The guy is also someone I don't know and have never had any interaction with. So this was the way he introduced himself to me, by posting his friend's attack of me. So much for shaking hands and saying "It's nice to meet you!"

It was hurtful and really, really weird. It would have been different if the guy at the forum had had the balls to say, "Hey, Jennifer, some of what you've written is interesting, but I have to admit, it sounds a bit nuts to me." Or whatever. At least he would be directly engaging me with some semblance of civility.

Instead, this gentleman chose to post an email from his lady friend in which she proceeded to eviscerate me, without any context for understanding where I was coming from as a researcher and healer.

Overall, today's ludicrous melodrama was a good reminder about why I never opened up this site to include a forum. Much as I would LOVE to get all of the incredibly loving, spiritually gifted people who have written to me over this past year together at a forum, inevitably, whenever a forum is created, chaos enters in. And it takes a full-time moderator just to keep the tone civilized and the discourse supportive and collaborative.

I get paid zero bucks for working about 25 hours a week on this site as it is. I don't think I need to take on more charity work :)

Okay, enough negative stuff. My focus is on letting all of this garbage that complete strangers are throwing just bounce off of me, like a bug gently bouncing off a windshield and continuing his flight.
