How to Cleanse a Crystal, Working with Crystals, Crystals and Black Magic - 2/21/06

Yes, sleeping with a crystal under the pillow can be bad because it acts as an uncontrolled psychic doorway while you sleep. Since the crystal is sitting right behind your head, where your upper chakras reside, these energy centers can become hyper-stimulated. And since you're not awake, you usually can't control the energy effects. If you're good at lucid dreaming, you may be able to close the psychic doorways through taking action in your dreams, but usually, you won't be awake enough in your dreams to do so.

Amethyst, clear quartz crystal, and rose quartz are all crystals that you shouldn't sleep with under your pillow. You also shouldn't be wearing them on your body when you sleep, especially as a pendant. It's not a good idea to wear necklaces to bed, anyway, because you can strangle yourself if you're not careful! Especially if you're the type who tosses and turns a lot during your sleep.

Tuning In To a Crystal's Deva

As far as "bad" crystals go, crystals themselves are usually positively aligned with all humans who respect them. Each crystal has a deva, which is like the crystal's guardian angel from the mineral kingdom. Whenever you start to work with a crystal, it's always important to get to know the deva. Meditate and communicate with this being, from a loving place of respect and friendship. Share your intentions with the crystal. Do you want to use the crystal to help open up your third eye and enhance your psychic abilities? Do you want to use the crystal to balance out and heal your energy centers like the chakras and meridians? Talk about this with the crystal and see if the crystal would like to assist you in this work.

The Definition of Black Magic - Inappropriate Use of Will

Whenever you are willful with another sentient beings - and yes, crystals are sentient, they have self-awareness and intelligence - it's not a good idea. Being forceful and manipulative, through COMMANDING the crystal to do something, is what black sorcerors do. It does energetic damage to the crystal and it's very nasty to do to the deva.

Unfortunately, there are many black sorcerors on this planet. And many of them don't even realize that that is what they are. They have become so used to playing around with the lower forms of "magic" that they don't see that they are using the wrong form of energy to accomplish metaphysical feats.

The definition of black magic is forcing another sentient being to do something, overriding their will with your own. It is enslavement.

White magic is what Jesus and all the great spiritual teachers have done. White magic is loving collaboration with the many wondrous beings throughout creation, including the angels, the animal and mineral kingdom, and the world of plants and trees. All possess consciousness. All respond well to love. None respond well to enslavement. Enslavement creates psychic trauma which at some point needs to be healed.

Many people who dabble in metaphysics get caught up in the wrong type of will. Willpower can be a good thing. For instance, there is nothing wrong with setting a clear, unbending intention and holding that focus to manifest things or situations in your life. This is entering into a cocreation vibration, where you are linking your energies with God/Goddess/Great Spirit in a harmonious way. This is "power prayer," of the type all the great spiritual teachers have taught.

It's willpower that allows us to move our bodies, to get up in the morning and walk down the street. It's willpower that allows us to dress and to bathe ourselves, to accomplish things in our lives.

But will without love, will without collaboration and mutual respect for those around you who are assisting you with your creation, that's black magic or dark sorcery.

We live on a planet where dark sorcery is the norm, and it has so infiltrated every aspect of our world, every segment of society, that we have gotten used to it. So we don't even think to go about things in a more loving, respectful way, one that honors life in all forms. We don't even honor other humans, much less crystals!

Beware Crystals Purchased in Occult Shops

Many crystals have been purchased in occult shops or New Age shops where the crystals have gone through a lot. They may have already been used in spells, or they may already have had psychic people enslave them for different projects. Usually, these energies will still be in the crystals when somebody else purchases them. You never know how many dense vibrations the poor crystal has had to pass through as it made its way to your doorstep.

There are also many crystals still being mined in spots around the world that were once ancient centers of energy, dating back thousands of years and even back to Atlantean times. Not all such crystal centers were aligned with a loving vibration. Dark sorcery was alive and well in Atlantis, and it was the Atlanteans' abuse of one of their large crystals that led to the axial shift that ended Atlantis and almost put an end to humans on this planet. This is the crystal that is now deep within the Atlantic Ocean, in the spot where the Bermuda Triangle is. Periodic emanations from this crystal are what cause disappearances of planes and appearances of anomalous beings and things.

So, even if a crystal has been mined somewhere and you are buying it directly from the mine, it may already have had its energies hijacked and have been corrupted by dark sorcerors from the past. Also, the very process of a crystal being amputated from its crystal bed, separated in a traumatic and mechanical way from others of its kind, causes some spiritual damage to the deva and the crystal.

You can heal and clear many crystals, though. Some are too negative, and should be simply buried back in the Earth, preferably with a circle of sea salt around it to prevent the negative energy from leaking out anywhere.

Stay away from the crystal skulls, for instance. You've probably heard of the strange crystal skulls that have been found in various archeological locations. They are often shown at holistic fairs and people go to meditate with them. I had a friend who started channelling the entity that was attached to one such skull, and she became possessed. Seriously. I had to break off all ties from her because when she tried to do healing work on people, or even just talk to people, they'd get sick or even almost die. This is serious stuff, folks. The metaphysical world is much weirder than the stuff you see on TV or in movies. Those things barely scratch the surface of what is really happening!

There Are Many Ways to Cleanse a Crystal

But let's say you've bought a crystal that has a nice feeling to it, an amethyst or rose quartz or clear quartz crystal, and you want to bring it home to work with it. Before you attempt ANY psychic work or healing work with it, you need to discern the energies it contains and see if you can clear it out. You want to work with a crystal only after it has been cleansed. Even a positively aligned crystal will appreciate a little sprucing up. Then it will be strong and healthy and ready to help you with your healing or spiritual work.

Meditate and connect with the deva. If you sense a loving and harmonious vibration, then you may ask the deva for permission to clear the crystal out. You can even ask HOW the crystal would like to be cleared. Some simply ask to be put outside to bask in the sunlight, for days, months, or even years, depending on whether they've been damaged or not. Sunlight is wonderful for clearing. Tune in yourself to sense how long the crystal needs the sunlight.

Sometimes, they will ask to be buried in the ground again. Or they will ask to be put out in the garden. I had an amethyst cluster that one day asked to go out in the garden, and I hid her away. Months passed, and I forgot about the cluster until I was about to do a healing session and suddenly remembered, "Didn't I have an amethyst cluster that would be perfect for this healing session?" Then I realized I had put it out in the garden. The garden was overflowing with plants and dense undergrowth at this point because it was the middle of summer. I started looking for the crystal cluster, but I realized I couldn't remember where I'd put it and my garden is so big, I might never find it!

I started to panic, but then I heard a little sweet voice in my left ear say "I'm here!" and I looked down at my feet. I didn't see anything. So I got down on all fours and crawled down beneath some plants. And there she was! And she said her energies were all stabilized now and that she wanted to assist me with the healing work I was preparing to do.

Another thing you can do to cleanse a crystal is to take a small bowl of water and put either sea salt or some table salt in it. Then lay the crystal in it and set the intention that the water and the salt will clear out any dense vibrations or negative energies the crystal has accumulated. Use your intuition to discern how long the crystal needs to be in the salt water. It may only want to be in it a few hours if it's already pretty clear. Or it might want to be in it for days or weeks. It's usually not good to put the crystal in salt water for MONTHS, because the salt will leave a lot of residue on the crystal that can be difficult to wash off. Again, use your intuition and talk to the deva to find out what it needs.

Some very QUICK ways to clear a crystal include:

1) Put it under running water and set the intention that the water clear the crystal out; some crystals like hot water, some like cold.

2) Send a gentle zap of energy through the crystal, using your hands to project healing energy in one end of the crystal and out the other end. I find that electric violet, a deep violet with a shimmering gold within it, is the most powerful for purging negative energies and critters. But you can also use other colors. Again, tune in for yourself and trust your intuitive guidance to give you the right information.

3) You can use some sage to smudge the crystal. Light some sage and allow the smoke to blow on the crystal, bathing it in the high vibration smoke. Sage is a sacred, powerful herb that is excellent for clearing negativity. Use it to clear out your living or working space, and use it to clear your own auric field out. It's good stuff!

When working with crystals, it's important to remember that they are sentient beings, so you want to establish a friendly and loving relationship with them. And you also need to be on your guard as you shop for crystals and realize that not all of them carry a loving vibration. Some have been too damaged by dark sorcerors and negative entities and are dangerous to do psychic work with. And if you attempt to do healing work with this type of crystal, you could do great damage to the patient. If you come across a crystal that you feel is too negative, bury it in the ground and allow Mother Nature to take care of it. And if you can bury it with some sea salt around it, the high vibration of the sea salt creates a barrier so that the negative vibrations of the crystal can not leak through and affect other people, animals, or plants in the environment.

Well, this has turned into quite a treatise on crystals! I do hope some of what I've shared is helpful to you. Remember, trust your intuition, because it will always tell you the truth about what is going on.

Oh, and one last thing. If you work regularly with a crystal, either for healing work or in meditation, remember that the crystal needs to be regularly cleansed. Often, it will pick up psychic debris from you as you clear yourself out during prayer and meditation. Or if the crystal is being used to heal somebody else, it might pick up negative vibrations from the patient.

Remember to treat your crystals with loving respect and give them proper attention, and they can be marvelous helpers for all manner of spiritual work.
