How Can I Find the New Moon Times?

Hi Lipstick Mystic,

I read your article on writing an abundance check around the time of a new moon and plan on trying that. However, I am kinda confused.......on the dates you have listed on your site, the next new moon is on Oct. 13th.......but on my calender it says Oct. 14th. So I checked another website and it says Oct 14th too. Are you sure about the date?
Just wondering.........I want to make sure I write the check on the right date :-)

Hi K,

That's great that you're experimenting with writing a new moon abundance check. It's a fun little "ritual" or power prayer that really works!

Th time of the new moon depends on your time zone and location. On my site, I've listed the times for the new moons based on Eastern Standard Time here in the U.S. So in this time zone, the next new moon is October 13th at 10:48 pm.  So if you're on Central time in the U.S., it would be one hour before that. Pacific time on the west coast of the U.S. is three hours before, etc.

If you're in eastern Australia you would add 15 1/2 hours (so then the time WOULD fall on the 14th.) For England, you'd add 5 hours, so that also puts it in the wee hours of the morning of the 14th. Sometimes websites that list new moon times aren't too clear on where the website originates, so this time zone stuff can be confusing.

I highly recommend that you check out the yearly Llewellyn Astrology Datebook for daily planetary stuff. It also lists conversions for different time zones so that you can translate every piece of astrological data to where you live. It's published each year through Llewellyn Publications. It's available in most New Age bookstores, and you can also purchase it off of their website:

http://www.llewellyn.com

Their 2005 guide should already be out, so you can get it and start planning ahead for next year's new moons!

Also, don't worry too much about doing your check at the exact hour of the new moon.  Any time within 24 hours of the new moon (either before or after) is still an extremely powerful window in which you can make use of the energies. Technically, if you do the ritual as late as three days after or three days before the new moon, it works just as well.

Here are the new moon times again for the next few months. (Again, remember that these are all Eastern Standard Time here in the U.S:)

October 13 - 10:48 pm Eastern Standard Time - New moon in Libra

November 12 - 9:27 am Eastern Standard Time - New moon in Scorpio

December 11 - 8:39 pm Eastern Standard Time - New moon in Sagittarius

Here's sending you lots of abundance vibes for this new moon period!
