Dear Lipstick Mystic,  

Before I left town to visit some friends, this odd occurrence had been going on for about a week. Whenever I came in the red front door, no matter what time of day, it would be covered with honey bees.  I don't believe in killing anything, so I would just ask them not to sting me and we would get along fine. I have no flowering plants by that door. 

They never flew in, never stung me, but hundreds of them sat on my front door, not moving. When I got home from my friends' house, they were gone. Was this some sort of metaphysical experience? What do you think?

Honey bees are a shamanic sign of passion, progress, and sexuality. They are also tied to joy and creativity. I think they also like the color red, too, so it may have been largely a physical response, but my sense is there was a shamanic or metaphysical component going on as well.

Animal messengers really get our attention when they arrive in large numbers like that. In this case, they may well have been drawn to some sort of energy that was happening in your home at the time, or with you. 

Wasps and hornets are viewed as "negative" messengers from the animal kingdom, but bees are good. Bees are so positive in how they keep harmony in the nature kingdom, and they produce all that wonderful honey.  My favorites are those fat, lazy, fuzzy bumblebees that tend to buzz slowly around flowers in the summer.  They seem to be very tied to the devic or fairy kingdom, because I'll often see big bumblebees when mother Nature is trying to send me a message. She likes to use the "little pretty flying creatures" to remind us that fairies do exist.  Hummingbirds, butterflies, ladybugs, and bees are positive messengers. 

Wasps and hornets have often been associated with negative energy in my own life. Usually, if one suddenly appears in one of my rooms out of nowhere, it parallels some psychic attack or underlying negative energy I need to banish from my life.  So I'm quick to rid those from my space, although if I smush one, I always pray for the spirit of the critter to pass to the Light.  I don't mess with those. If I see one inside, I'm pretty vigilant about sending them on to to the next dimension.

Dark sorceror types (usually people who have strongly negative psychic energy and don't realize it) can manifest "coincidental" negative stuff - so often when the dangeous insects turn up, some tendrils of energy are coming through on an interpersonal level from negative people in your life. Their negative emotional charge towards you can be reflected in weird animal occurrences that are unpleasant or threatening. I like to take action on both the physical and the spiritual plane when this darker stuff is stirred up. I'll do  something physical like light some sage or frankincense incense and also invoke spiritually for clearing and protection while ridding my home of the negative creature.

But bees are good. Bees are friendly. And they often are messengers of happy, sexy, playful times in your life. I say, bring on the bees!
