What Are My Career and Love Future? - 6/13/06

Dear B.,

When I focused on your tea leaves, I set the intention that the clearest, most practical information come forth. Sometimes when I do a reading, it's impossible to focus on two questions at once. (As in your case, where you asked about both career and love issues.) But sometimes the two things are related and have to do with larger energy trends in your life. So I wanted to remain open to whatever information your angels and Higher Self wanted to bring through in the reading.

A Shifting Image Appears in the Tea Leaves

The image that appeared in the tea leaves was a shifting one. This happens sometimes. I was holding the saucer and looking at the leaves and there was some water bubbling around within the leaves, and as this water moved, the leaves changed positions. So the original image began to shift into a secondary image, which is always very interesting. When two images rotate like this in a reading, it usually means that you're "in transit" with the issues raised in your reading, meaning, you're going through a big change or shift around these things in your life.

The first image that showed in the leaves was of a tree. The tree had a thick trunk and multiple branches coming off of it.

The second image moved into a form of a sea creature. It looked like a large fish or a whale.

So this was a dramatic transition in the images - from one thing to something very different.

The Meaning of the Symbol of the Tree

The tree has multiple meanings. Its primary meaning is of being stationery, not moving, grounded in one position. This means that when it comes to your career and also your love life, things haven't been shifting for a long time. You've been stuck in one major "mode" for years. So perhaps you've been working the same job or the same types of jobs for a long time. And maybe you've either been single for years or been in one relationship for a long time, because your love life has been kind of static, too.

The tree isn't negative, necessarily. There is a lot of beauty, power, and strength with the tree. But there can be feelings of isolation with the tree symbol, too. So you may be feeling that you have been alone in your quest for happiness, finding yourself emotionally or socially isolated from means of support. The tree is a solitary figure, a thoughtful one. The tree is also grounded through its roots into Mother Earth, so the tree indicates that your focus has had to be on practical matters for quite some time. Maybe it hasn't been realistic for you to pursue your "dream career" because you've had to work to pay off some school loans or debts. Or perhaps you've stayed in a romantic relationship longer than you wanted to because of feelings of obligation or financial committment to that person. The overall theme of the tree means that in the recent past (the last few years) you have felt a little "stuck in one place," tied in one situation, and wondering when you'll be able to move ahead.

In the case of a reading where there are two images like this, the first image represents the influences of the past, and the second image represents the influences of the future.

So here the tree represents your past, and the big fish or whale represents the future energies you'll be moving through.

Let's take a look at the whale.

The Symbolic Meaning of the Whale.

This image seems too big to be an ordinary fish, so I see it as a whale. That seems the right interpretation as I tune in.

The whale is, obviously, very different from a tree! So it represents a completely new energy pattern that you'll be moving into gradually over the next few months and then through the next few years. The whale is a deeply intelligent, incredibly telepathic and sensitive being. Whale consciousness is ancient, and many researchers feel that whales were here long before humans were. So they are wise and have a unique view of the world - one that is incredibly patient, forgiving and loving.

The whale energy shows that you will be stepping into the role of the "wise man" or healer. So if you do any work as a healer, this will go very well for you. If you've never done healing work before, you might feel inspired to take some classes in a healing modality so you can access the strong healing gifts that live within you. And if you're already a healer, you may find yourself feeling much more at peace with this role, with your business flowing better and your services being much more in demand. The whale urges you to step into using the wisest, most profound, most creative and spiritual aspects of yourself in your daily life. So it's going to be more and more important in the coming years for you to express this part of yourself through your "day job." Think about ways you might bring this together.

The whale is also a creature of movement, so there could be a time up ahead when you do some travelling or even change locations. This will all be very positive. I'd say give yourself permission to "wander" a little bit. The image of the whale is also a reminder that it's important to find other members of your "pod" or soul tribe. This may require some traveling or change to your social routine. Don't shy away from connecting with unusual or interesting people, because some of them may become important friends, teachers, and/or romantic interests.

As far as romance goes, you're moving away from the relatively static and "stuck" feeling of being a tree and flowing into the more social and easy-going energy of the whale. So this energy will help you to meet people who carry a more deeply resonant vibration to yours, members of your "soul tribe," soulmates who move you on a deep level. Some may be friends, others have the potential to become romantic partners, but the main guidance I'd give you is to remain open.

There is a lot of lovely spiritual energy in your reading showing that you are evolving in your understanding of what your goal is on this planet and in this lifetime, and it's important NOT to limit yourself to feeling like the tree, stuck in one place, and to incorporate the movement and flow of the whale as much as possible. Even if you are still tied down to one situation as far as work or a relationship goes, you can incorporate the whale energy by changing your social routine, taking some interesting classes, joining some cool spiritual or artistic groups, and finding other ways to be in the "sea."

The whale energy will become stronger the more you put yourself out into the flow of life, allowing the waters of synchronicity to enter into your daily life. Be open to the unexpected. Many wonderful things are opening up for you!
