Dear Lipstick Mystic,
I'm wondering if you can give me a bit of insight on my current job situation.
I was laid off from my job in January. The job was stressful mainly due to the toxic atmosphere my Boss (yes, big B) created.
Getting laid off was the best thing that could've happened. I've been cherishing this time off and getting in touch with what truly inspires me to point me in the right career direction. I've done a lot of research and have come to the conclusion that I want to work in the health/wellness industry in some sort of capacity that would allow me to help people.
What do you see in my near future?
-- Compelled by Spirit to Serve
Dear Compelled,
Thanks for submitting your question to me. Your concerns are being mirrored by many others on the planet right now who are experiencing something parallel. There seems to be a huge split or "forking off" point within humanity. People are either waking up and seeing that they need to be on a path that carries greater spiritual meaning, or they are becoming more and more frustrated as they bash their heads against a brick wall (so to speak) trying to improve old systems they're plugged into that simply aren't going to change.
I'm so glad that you were able to take some time off from the toxic path you were on, go within, and center yourself on your true dreams and desires! That's great!
Let's tune in now to see what the tea leaves have to say about your path in the immediate future. The leaves often provide a symbol that indicates the ideal frame of mind you should get into if you want to create more flow and ease in your life.
The image coming up in your tea leaf reading is one I've never seen before. It's the pendulum.
Learning How to Dowse with a Pendulum
You know how some people will use an object like a ring suspended at the end of a string or a necklace chain to "dowse?" What happens is that the ring or the pendulum will gently rotate in circles and eventually establish a clear pattern of motion.
Dowsing is something that everyone can learn to do. It takes a little practice to figure out which movement means "yes" and which means "no." For some people, a "yes" answer is when the pendulum rotates clockwise; a "no" answer is when it is going counterclockwise. For others, they might find that when the pendulum points in an "up" or "down" direction ("north" or "south" on a compass) that axis of motion represents yes; and when the pendulum moves on a "right" and "left" ("west" and "east") axis, that represents "no." This is something that takes a little practice to figure out, but you can focus your mind on "test" questions like "Is my name Jane?" "Do I live in a white house?" to see what your personal "yes" position is and learn what "no" is in your own dowsing.
When you're first learning to dowse, it's good to ask questions which aren't highly charged with emotion, so you can remain neutral. Don't ask, "Will I break up with so-and-so-?" or "Will I have any extra money come in this month?" because these questions are a little too "close too home" and my carry too much hope and fear within your own psyche. In the beginning, focus on neutral questions to get the hang of things. Even experienced dowsers can find it difficult to dowse for family members or in situations where they are too personally involved. It's like a surgeon operating on his own relatives!
I can't claim to be a dowsing expert, but there are plenty of articles online describing how to dowse. Here's a simple one I found at Bellaonline: Bellaonline Article How to Dowse
Now, let's get back to your question. You mentioned your current shift in career direction and how you'd like to do something in the holistic health and wellness field. I find it interesting that the image of the pendulum came up. This means that you have, within yourself, strong abilities to work with systems of healing and divination (obtaining answers about stuff.) And the pendulum seems to be showing up as a clear message that it might be fruitful for you to learn healing practices that involve obtaining a "yes"/"no" response.
Dowsing is a bit different from, say, being a tarot card reader or palm reader or rune reader. Dowsing is more about directly accessing the energy wisdom of the body's own nervous system to obtain yes and no responses to things.
My sense is that you will really enjoy metaphysical practices and holistic healing methods which involve this direct way of accessing the body's own energy wisdom.
One system of healing which is very attuned to this is kinesiology or muscle testing. You learn how to do muscle testing to see where the body has become out of balance. And muscle testing is also something you can learn to do on yourself to obtain simple yes/no responses. This can be really handy!
For instance, you know how you can be standing in a health food store in front of walls of vitamins and herbs and become overwhelmed, because you're not sure exactly what your body needs?
You can hold a bottle of a particular vitamin supplement or herbal tincture and do simple muscle testing for yourself to see if you body says "Yes" or "No." You'll soon see that your body's innate wisdom is very real, and if you can learn how to access this through a method that's comfortable for you, you'll soon be able to determine what foods, supplements, and practices are healthiest for you.
And, if you develop an interest in something like kinesiology and decide to study it, this is a wonderful healing technique that really helps people. Kinesiologists can work in private practice to do muscle testing and balancing on clients. It's a little like chiropractic or acupuncture in that it uses very specific techniques to bring a person's system into alignment, and it works on both the physical and the spiritual levels. (It's also a non-invasive technique that isn't "weird" or "uncomfortable," so you don't have to deal with people's fear of needles or anything!)
The recommendation coming through in your tea leaf reading is that you might want to learn how to dowse or to muscle test for simple yes/no answers. The pendulum image indicates that, not only will you find this easy to do, but it will bring you a lot of confidence in your own abilities. This will help set you on the path of accessing the natural wisdom of the body, and you may have so much fun and make so many wonderful discoveries that this will guide you in taking your next steps - which could include training in something like kinesiology or another healing modality which makes use of the body's natural yes/no responses.
I wish you the very best on your quest to discover more about your own healing gifts and talents! It looks like it will be a grand and successful adventure for you.
